Germany’s first and, to date, only production plant for bark briquettes in Bodelshausen also manufactures round wood briquettes.
Since December 2008 the briquette production plant in Bodelshausen, Baden-Württemberg, does not only manufacture celsico®bark bark briquettes but also elsico®roller wood briquettes (round, with a hole). This enables GEE Energy’s retail partners to also order mixed deliveries of these perfectly matched biofuels – made up of pallets loaded with wood and bark briquettes – directly from the plant.

GEE Energy’s briquette plant has an annual production capacity of 12,000 tonnes. The sawdust and shavings used for the wood briquettes are mainly ourced from regional sawmills and dried using waste heat from the adjacent biomass power station belonging to B&S Holz und Energie GmbH. Subsequent to rying they are pressed into cylindrical form using an extruding press and assembled into easy-to-handle 10 kg packages. The briquettes’ strength is achieved solely thanks to the high pressure during the extrusion process; no additional chemical binding agents are used.

celsico®roller wood briquettes are extremely well-suited for use in fireplaces and wood-burning stoves. They have a high fuel value (approx. 5.2 kWh/kg, wf) and, parallel to this, are also an environment-friendly, CO2 neutral fuel which can be stored easily and requires little space. The round wood briquettes with a hole manufactured in Bodelshausen meet the ÖNORM M7135 standard and are subject to continuous monitoring within the framework of GEE Energy’s internal
quality management system. GEE Energy is a subsidiary of Hamburg-based Marquard & Bahls AG, a successful player in the international energy and oil industry for over 60 years. The group founded GEE Energy at the end of 2002 in order to participate in the market for renewable energy. In addition to wood pellets, wood and bark briquettes and wood firelighters the GEE Energy product range also includes wood chips. GEE Energy will be expanding its international trading activities in the coming years as well as also investing in additional production facilities for biomass products parallel to this. Products originating from the company’s own manufacturing facilities will contribute to meeting demand, thus making it possible to guarantee an optimum supply of, and access to, high quality products.
